The Languedoc-Roussillon

Nature

The region sparkles with a thousand jewels. With 320 days of sunshine per year, there's plenty for sun-lovers. An endless row of beaches, rocky creeks, fishing ports and marinas stretches along the Catalan coast. And a few miles further down the coast, the mountains await. Marvel at the massive natural expanses with their valleys and high-altitude lakes and discover the stunning scenery of the Pic du Canigou! The wine-growing lands of Languedoc-Roussillon, its market gardens and fruit trees add a riot of Mediterranean colours to the region.

Leisure pursuits

Ramble, take a mountain bike or get on a horse and discover the fabulous landscapes of the coast: the Mas Larrieu, the coastal path, or the Cerbère-Banyuls nature park. Or opt for the calm of nature and enjoy one of the many golf courses. Between the sea and the mountains, there's something for every sports lover. And there's plenty to do out on the water too, from the calm pleasures of boating to the thrills of diving and jet skis...

Gastronomy

What better excuse to sample the quality local delicacies, rich in flavours. Discover typical Catalan products such as olives and tapenade, aioli, gambas, anchovy paste, cuttlefish in sauce, cassoulet and pélardons. And why not round off a splendid meal with some Garriguette strawberries grown in the world's finest greenhouses. Melt-in-the-mouth doughnuts and fougasse flat bread are among the other delights on offer. And to wash it all down, quality local wines from a region which has become the world's second largest exporter, with a wide range of products: Coteaux du Languedoc, Côtes du Roussillon, Minervois, Saint-Chinian and Fitou. Liven up your meals and enjoy, it's holiday time!
